Mango processing factory in Yumbe District

Food and Nutrition Solutions Ltd (FONUS) in partnership with National Agriculture Advisory Services (NAADS) and UDC are setting up a Mango Processing facility in Yumbe District valued at US$2.1 million through a Public Sector Initiative.

The Mango Processing Facility is expected to have an input capacity of 5 MT/hr and output capacity of 2.5 MT/hr of single strength mango puree.

The project is expected to reduce post-harvest handling losses estimated to be 80%, create jobs for the youth, and promote import substitution.

UDC would manage the investment equity share (not less than 20%) on behalf of the Government, but with the arrangement being that the equity share of Government would eventually be transferred to the Yumbe Fruit Farmers’ Cooperative.
